The IBAAS – 2012 symposium "Bauxite, Alumina and Aluminium Industry of Asia – Vision 2020" will feature a special session on "Non-metallurgical bauxites and alumina products." The symposium organizing committee is creating world class program focusing on key topics and issues in the bauxite, alumina and aluminium industry of Asian region.
The objective of the symposium is to review the present status of bauxite, alumina and aluminium industries in the world with special reference to India and China. The aluminium industry structure is rapidly changing and production centre is shifting to developing, high growth potential countries of the world. Keeping present development pace and associated issues, it is interesting to forecast aluminium industry structure in 2020. Further aim of this symposium is to search and discuss the promising research developments aimed to improve production and productivity in the existing bauxite mines, alumina and aluminium plants. Highlight the proposed Greenfield activities of aluminium industry; discuss problems in development, environment and safety considerations. Discuss marketing aspects of bauxite, alumina and aluminium and their products.
The development in non-metallurgical applications and uses of bauxite and alumina are also rapidly changing, in recent past several small to medium sized independent industries have come up in India and China to produce value added items. The present symposium will provide platform for this industry to highlight technological developments, new products and their market potential. The production and technology for value added bauxite and alumina products are well guarded and kept strictly confidential by large companies.
