UNITECR 2009 closed with more than 600 participants

UNITECR 2009 closed on Friday 16 October and had 479 registered participants for the technical sessions, 64 companions for the social program and 75 exhibitors distributed by its 29 stands, with a grand total of 618 people present in the Pestana Bahia Convention Center. The congress lived up to its reputation as the major international event on refractories: 37 countries sent representatives and more than 200 papers were presented during the 3 days, on 5 simultaneous sessions. The UNITECR 2009 Forum on Raw Materials discussed the main issues concerning the quality and reliability tendencies of the current sources of materials for the next 3 years and had 8 panelists from different countries and regions, representing 4 major raw materials suppliers and 4 major refractory manufacturers. The moderator of the debates led a very rich discussion on the current situation of raw materials and their short and medium term trends.
