The 6th International Symposium on Refractories was Held in Zhengzhou

Mr. ZHANG Renwei, Chairman of the Symposium, as the Keynote SpeakerThe 6th International Symposium on Refractories jointly organized by China Ceramic Society and the Chinese Society for Metals was held on October 18-21, 2012 in Zhengzhou, China, with the theme “Refractories Serving Low Carbon Economy”.
More than 300 refractories specialists and scholars, manufacturers, suppliers, users and relevant medias (inc. Refractories Window) around the word participated in this symposium. Prof. Zhou Ningsheng hosted this opening ceremony, the famous inorganic material scholar and member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Mr. Zhong Xiangchong, the dean of China refractories industry, firstly introduced the current development tendency and prospect of China refractories industry, then followed by Mr. Zhang Renwei, President of China Building Materials Federation and the Chinese Ceramic Society, Prof. Christos G. Aneziris from TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany, Prof. Li Hongxia from LIRR, Dr. A.K. Chattopadhyay, MD of TRL Krosaki Refractories Ltd., Prof. Damien CHAUVEINC, GM of Demrec-Imerys, Prof. Li Nan from Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Prof. Charles E. Semler from Refractories Consultant Phoenix, Arizona, USA, Prof. Zhang Shaowei from University of Exeter, UK, Prof. Hatsuo Taira from Krosaki Harima Corporation, Japan, Prof. Farhad Golestani-Fard from Iran University of Science and Technology Prof. Harald Harmuth from Montanuniversitat, Austria and other well-knonwn scholars. The main topics are as below:

The world is continuously changing warmer, countries and regions are paying close attention to the development of low carbon economy, which will further drive refractories technological innovation & development and the adjustment of refractories products structure, and promote development and market spaces for advanced refractories. Technological innovation is believed to be the fundamental force to overcome economic difficulties and to boost new economic prosperity. China, as the biggest refractories producer and consumer, is making efforts to strengthen technological innovation and promote consolidation, structural optimization and implementing “green refractories” strategy in this sector.
