Shinagawa Refractories holds party to celebrate 25th anniversary of Australian business

Aug. 18, 2023 - Shinagawa Refractories Australasia (SRA, headquartered in Unanderra, New South Wales) is an Australian affiliate of Shinagawa Refractories. SRA is celebrating its 25th anniversary since its establishment, and on July 29th a party commemorating their achievement was held in Wollongong, near their headquarters.

The party was attended by nearly 100 people, including SRA President Robyn Lavin, former SRA President John Phipps, Shinagawa Refractories President Hiroyuki Fujiwara, Managing Executive Officer/Refractories Department Overseas Business Division Director Heiki Miki and Executive Officer Takuya Fujita.

During the party President Fujiwara gave a speech and expressed his gratitude toward the employees of SRA. “SRA is a company that has a significant presence in the markets related to their businesses in Oceania and Indonesia. We also commend the fact that SRA has been conducting balanced sales with around half of their customers belonging to the steel industry and the other half of their customers belonging to industries outside of the steel industry.” President Fujiwara also pointed out the importance of pursuing measures toward carbon neutrality and sustainability, and gave words of encouragement. “Let’s keep up the good work so that we can celebrate SRA’s 30th anniversary.” Cheers rang out in the venue as a barbecue grill was presented as a gift.

SRA was established through the current Shinagawa Refractories making a capital participation in the former BHP Steel’s refractory affiliate in May 1998, which later became a subsidiary of Shinagawa Refractories. SRA is an overseas affiliate overseeing operations in Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia, and the company has continued to steadily grow.
