ArcelorMittal Poland complete modernization of rolling mill at Sosnowiec

Dec. 5, 2019 - The second stage of strategic modernization of the rolling mill in Sosnowiec has been completed. The first circles of this semi-finished product, from which are created fencing nets, cords for tires, welding wires or screws on the modernized line were produced at the beginning of November. The industrial tests of finished products are now underway. The investment that improved the quality of the products offered and the plant's efficiency cost PLN 120 million.
The first stage of investment in the former steel mill Cedler in Sosnowiec began in October 2018. At that time, all equipment was replaced or rebuilt: laying heads, water boxes, motors and rolling mill drives. A new control system has also been implemented. In the autumn of this year, the modernization of the intermediate pipeline system, i.e. rolling stands with drives and wiring, began. Listed among others twelve rolling stands, six for each rolling thread, which replaced six previously operating in the intermediate string.
