Nalco and Idco to set up aluminium park

The Angul Aluminium Park, spread over 223 acres, is the first of its kind in the subcontinent with a facility for directly having molten aluminium from the adjoining smelter plant for use by the downstream units.

The park would mainly consist of manufacturing units for aluminium products supporting infrastructure for producing various components and inputs that go into the manufacture of aluminium products. The park would provide an opportunity for aluminium downstream industries such as conductors, extrusions, casting and rolled products, as well as foils.

Nalco has committed to provide aluminium for the park from its Angul smelter situated near the park. Nalco has plans to increase the capacity at its Angul smelter to more than 1 million tons annually by adding 600,000 tons annually capacity to its existing 460,000 tons each year plant. This could lead to increase in supply of molten aluminium to the park in future.
