Overview

We are looking for a Process Development Engineer, based in Bodio, Switzerland, joining our department of Industrial Development & Innovation.

Accountabilities & Competencies:

• Permanent plant performance and process optimization in the plant

• Process-trouble-shooting as well as process automation in close cooperation with the plant and the Engineering department

• Systematically perform measurements for all relevant equipment and thermal and mechanical processes in order to access their efficiency and state

• Objectives are:

  • Production and yields of furnaces, kilns and mills, within quality limits

  • New products development and industrialization

  • Electrical energy saving (kWh/t)

  • Automation (rationalization and optimal process control)

  • Related issues of EHS

• Establish, implement, organize or make follow up of tools or procedures for continuous process control and optimization e.g.:

  • Standard measurements on furnaces, kilns and mills

  • Process performance key figures and improvement programs

• New processes, equipment or installations/CAPEX:

  • Participates and support commissioning

  • Manages the de-bottlenecking of new and existing installations

  • Proposes modifications of existing pieces of equipment and procedures for continuous process improvement

  • Transfers new know-how to the plant

• Participates and contributes on relevant events and meetings e.g.:

  • Projects team meetings

  • Technical development programs

  • Technical meetings

  • Working groups

  • Technical training

• Training for production personnel :contributes to process topics and participates on programs, prepares training material

• Participates or leads projects working groups:

  • Organizes meetings in cooperation with the team leader and participants

  • Maintains documentation e.g. in working group data base

• Informs superior and plant management routinely about activities and immediately about urgencies

• Guarantees and fosters compliance with EHS policies. Establishes safety culture and tackles specific actions to ensure health and safety prevention during all activities

Professional Education and Know-How:

• Graduated engineer (Process, Mechanical), or equivalent

• Practical experience in the field of inorganic chemistry

• Consolidated knowledge of the manufacturing processes and of the related typology of equipment as well as of mechanical and thermal technologies with the applicable methods

• Experience and know-how in the areas of process optimization instrumentation, measuring and control systems

• Good know-how and practice of IT application

Languages: Excellent communication skills in Italian and English. German and/or French useful
