Nov. 11, 2017 - HarbisonWalker International will be holding a job fair Monday to fill 30 or more positions at the company's new South Point plant, which is scheduled to open in 2018, according to a news release.
The event runs from 2-6 p.m. at the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce Office, 216 Collins Ave., South Point. The job fair will have a hosting area, where individuals will be able to engage with HarbisonWalker representatives and learn more about the opportunities. Refreshments will also be provided.
HarbisonWalker International, which is a leading provider of refractories and services, is headquartered in Pittsburgh and operates in North America, Europe and Asia, with 19 manufacturing plants, 30 global sourcing centers, and technology facilities in both the United States and China.
Refractories are ceramic materials designed to withstand the very high temperatures encountered in modern manufacturing, according to The Refractories Institute. More heat-resistant than metals, they are used to line the hot surfaces found inside many industrial processes, the institute says.
The company broke ground this summer for its new facility at The Point Industrial Park, which will represent a $30 million investment.
"The new facility will be one of the most technologically advanced refractories plants built in the U.S. and will be operational by early 2018," Carol Jackson, chair and chief executive officer at HWI, said in June.
