RHI magnesita to restart fused magnesia production in Porsgrunn, Norway

Jan. 9, 2018 - The restart of our Fused Magnesia facility in Porsgrunn (Norway) marks a major step in further increasing RHI Magnesita’s supply security for the benefit of our customers - Further extension of RHI Magnesita’s backward integration of key raw materials - Restart based on positive results of a test run in September 2017 and continued demand of high quality magnesia. 

The restart is also a reaction to the still tense situation in China where stricter environmental requirements significantly affected market prices, availability and the stability in the supply of fused magnesia - Start up and manning of the FM facility in Porsgrunn is expected to be completed during the next four to six months - RHI Magnesita’s investments in supply reliability and its consistently high quality are appreciated by its customers and also honored by their willingness to pay more for RHI Magnesita’s products and services.
