ArcelorMittal North America announces new leaders

Jun. 25, 2018 - ArcelorMittal is pleased to announce leadership and organizational changes for ArcelorMittal North America and AM/NS Calvert, including the following:

Bradley (Brad) Davey has been named chief executive officer for ArcelorMittal North America, reporting to Lakshmi Mittal, chairman and CEO of ArcelorMittal. Davey also becomes a member of the Group Management Committee. He previously served as vice president of ArcelorMittal, chief marketing officer ArcelorMittal North America and head of global automotive.

Davey joined Dofasco in 1986 as a member of its technology department. In the next 15 years, he progressed through various roles in manufacturing and technology, working 11 of those years in hot rolling. His final years in operations were as business unit manager of hot rolling, overseeing the facility’s hot mill modernization program and responsible for a three-year technical exchange program with a partner steel company.

Since 2001, he has held commercial positions of increasing responsibility in marketing and sales. He was vice president of Dofasco and chief marketing officer for North America Flat Rolled. He previously served on the board of directors for ArcelorMittal Tubular Products and ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks Americas Ltd and as a director of the AISI Steel Market Development Institute.

He holds a bachelor of engineering degree from McMaster University.

Davey succeeds Robrecht Himpe, who recently retired as chief executive officer and executive vice president of ArcelorMittal, a member of the Group Management Committee, and chief executive officer of ArcelorMittal North America and AM/NS Calvert. Himpe will retire on July 1, 2018 after 37 years of service.

Peter Leblanc is appointed chief marketing officer of automotive for ArcelorMittal North America, reporting to Davey. Leblanc previously served as director of automotive sales for ArcelorMittal North America.

Leblanc joined Dofasco in 1987 as a metallurgical engineer. He progressed through various roles servicing the automotive market, including both technical and commercial functions. In 1996, he was appointed manager of automotive market development, responsible for organizing the advanced engineering activities with the automotive customers in North America. In 2003, he was promoted to corporate account manager automotive, responsible for the commercial requirements of the Asian car makers in North America. He held this position until 2008, before taking his current role.

Leblanc graduated as a metallurgical engineer from Dalhousie (DalTech) in Halifax, Canada. He completed executive education programs at the Northwestern University (Evanston, Il) and McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario).

Howard (Howie) MacNair will take on the responsibility of president and chief executive officer of AM/NS Calvert, also reporting to Davey. The current members of the AM/NS Calvert management team will report to MacNair, who previously served as general manager of ArcelorMittal and head of operations at AM/NS Calvert.

MacNair has been with ArcelorMittal since 1977, starting at Dofasco in electrical maintenance. He held managerial positions in manufacturing and large capital projects before moving to commercial in 1999, where he held multiple leadership positions in automotive and supply chain departments.

He joined the North American leadership team in Chicago in 2015, as general manager of customer service. In 2016, he assumed the role of general manager of operations at AM/NS Calvert.

MacNair is a graduate of electrical technology from Mohawk College of Arts and Technology in Hamilton, Canada.
