Tata Steel targets 30 million tonnes capacity by 2025

Nov. 12, 2018 - Tata Steel is eyeing for a total installed capacity of 30 million tonnes by 2025 from India operations. This will include its production from its own facilities as well as one acquired ones. 


The takeover of Bhushan Steel and Usha Martin’s plants are expected to help the company achieve this target. Tata Steel’s present capacity stands at 18.5 million tonnes. Mr Anand Sen, President - Steel Business, Tata Steel (India), said “With expansion and new capacities, we expect to have 30 million tonne capacity in India by 2025.’


According to him, after the second phase of the Kalinganagar facility became operational, the total capacity there is expected go up to 8 million tonne a year. The company’s Jamshedpur unit will have an annual capacity of 13.5 million tonns.
