Woon to join Morgan Advanced Materials board as non-executive director

May 16, 2019 - Morgan Advanced Materials plc recently announced that Clement Woon was appointed to its board of directors, as a non-executive director, effective immediately after the Annual General Meeting on May 10. Woon is the group chief executive of Saurer AG and was previously co-executive officer of Jinsheng Group Ltd., where he acted as a strategic consultant. Prior to that, Woon served as CEO of the textile division of OC Oerlikon AG, president and CEO of SATS Ltd., and spent 10 years working for Leica Geosystems AG.

The appointment reportedly follows a comprehensive search process using an external agency led by the board’s Nomination Committee. The appointment of an additional non-executive director fills the vacancy on the board that arose following Andrew Shilston’s retirement in December 2018. Following Woon’s appointment, the board comprises five non‐executive directors (including the chairman) and two executive directors.

“Clement has a wide variety of experience across a number of sectors within Asia-Pacific, with a particular focus on technology,” said Douglas Caster, chairman. “He will bring great insight and experience to the Morgan board, and we look forward to working with him."
