Prices of Steel Plates Forecast to Rise in 1st Half

Prices of steel plates in South Korea are forecast to rise during the first half of this year amid a supply shortage, dealing a blow to local shipbuilders. According to industry watchers Monday, Japanese steelmakers are likely to raise export prices of steel plates to US$700 per ton from the current $600 a ton during the April-June period.
