Work started to put Almatis tabular plant back into operation

Feb. 1, 2020 - On January 22, the German Authorities concluded their investigations of the Almatis Ludwigshafen tabular alumina plant and released the accident area to Almatis.

Almatis immediately began work on the area, assessing the extent of the damages and initiating first measures for a quick and safe restart of the tabular plant. 

Almatis is grateful that no human or environmental harm resulted from the January 16 fire at their facility.

The Almatis global supply chain will be relied on to secure Tabular Alumina supply to their European customers.  Almatis produces Tabular Alumina in four other locations, including Rotterdam, Netherlands, and has available capacity to meet all customer needs.

Also, Almatis will later in the quarter commission their newest Tabular Alumina facility in Falta, India. 

All other Almatis products are not at all impacted.
