Oct. 14, 2022 - Pinnacle has started aeromagnetic and radiometric surveying at its Bobalong and Holly kaolin projects in Western Australia to generate new drill targets.
The company contracted MagSpec Airborne Surveys to fly 5,572 line-kilometres of gradiometer magnetics and radiometric surveys at 100m line spacing to improve its geological understanding of the projects.
Pinnacle Minerals is looking particularly for new dolerite dykes and fault zones, which will identify ideal “traps” for thick, clean kaolinite development.
“The results of this survey are expected to complement prior field observations and enable us to generate a suite of high priority and quality targets,” chief executive officer Nic Matich said.
“These targets will be systematically explored in future drilling campaigns with the mineralisation identified to be added to our maiden Mineral Resource at Bobalong which is due for release this quarter.”
Bobalong kaolin project
Kaolin from Bobalong has already been verified as being suitable for industrial uses by Chinese processors.
Washed and graded kaolin from the project had a whiteness of more than 85% (up from an average of 81.47% in ore samples) and a fine particle size which is also layered and flaky, indicating its amenability to reducing particle size.
This is well above the whiteness of 80%w which is acceptable for most kaolin standards.
