Koji Sakatani Appointed CEO of Primetals Technologies

Apr. 1, 2026 - Primetals Technologies today announced the appointment of Koji Sakatani as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Yoshiharu Ikeda who will retire. Koji Sakatani brings decades of experience in the heavy industry sector, including extensive leadership roles with a focus on strategic initiatives.

Koji Sakatani began his career at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Limited and has held several global positions including Head of Strategy at Primetals Technologies. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Plants and Infrastructure Systems at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Limited.

"Koji Sakatani has an impressive track record in senior management within the metals industry, particularly with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group. His proven leadership will reinforce our vision to be a pioneer and global leader in the heavy industry sector.
