Calderys awarded new foundry bentonite contract in China

Aug. 20, 2021 - Calderys has recently been awarded a one-year foundry contract by Tonghai Yunma in China. Based in Yuxi city, in Yunnan province, this new customer is a casting company that produces several kinds of fasteners for the foundry market.

As part of the new deal, Calderys will supply its foundry bentonite product – almost 60 tons per month – from its bentonite plant, Jianping, in Liaoning province, and provide specialist technical services.

Kun Xu, Sales Manager of Bentonite business, says: “We have been growing in the foundry market in Yunnan province for many years and we have many customers nearby. Our discussion with Tonghai Yunma started at the Metal + Metallurgy China 2021 exhibition in Shanghai. The client visited our booth because they knew our bentonite products well.

"This business win shows that our bentonite products are well known by foundry customers and have quickly gained popularity and acceptance in the market. This is very good news for us, after all, our bentonite business has only been in the Chinese market for a short time.
