Ukraine's Metinvest plans to acquire Dunaferr

Jan. 13, 2023 - Yuriy Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest, said that the Hungarian steel plant Dunaferr can offer a lot of support to the group’s development, and the group can use the material from Dunaferr. It complies with Metinvest’s development strategy.

At the same time, Metinvest can offer iron ore concentrate, pellets, and coking coal to Dunaferr. It will benefit the Hungarian economy.

Metinvest is also keeping discussing with other manufacturers about potential acquisition activities. At the end of last year, the company discussed with U.S. Steel over acquiring its Kosice plant in Slovakia.
