Dunaferr restarts No. 2 blast furnace

Feb. 16, 2023 - Dunaferr, a flat steel producer in Hungary, restarted the operation of its No. 2 blast furnace on February 13. This blast furnace has an annual production capacity of 800,000 tons, and the mill’s rolling capacity is around 2 million tons annually. Besides, Dunaferr is also planning to resume its hot strip mill next month.

However, the current stock of raw materials is only enough for the furnace to operate for a few days, so it is urgent to purchase raw materials to maintain the operation.

There is no plan to resume the operation of the other furnace at the mill. Therefore, the company will likely meet the demand for its hot strip mill by using external slab sources.
