Liberty Steel relaunches No.5 blast furnace at Galati plant

Feb. 21, 2024 - The No.5 blast furnace of Liberty Steel's Romanian Galati plant has recovered its operation from February. The mentioned blast furnace, which shut down at the beginning of October 2023 and once tended to reboot in the middle of last December yet failed, owns an annual production capacity of more than 2 million tons.

According to Liberty Steel, the plant will be able to accelerate the rolling production after producing enough liquid iron and steel during the next few weeks.

The plant mainly supplies thick plates and hot-rolled products, and its maximum annual production could reach 3 million tons.
